Second rehearsal

9 February, 08 · Leave a Comment

This thursday we played for the second time. Everyone was tired, I think, but we made some progress. Last time we were not in the register, but we managed to play anyway (for free…!).  Now we pay, are registered and next rehearsal will probably be in like two weeks.

First rehearsal

17 January, 08 · Leave a Comment

Yesterday I played together with some friends for the first time. As can be expected from a first time rehearsal we didn’t create anything spectacular, but we got to know each others abilities a little better. At the moment we are two guitarists and one bass player. Perhaps other parts will be filled in later on, but it feels like a good setup for now.

A new year

2 January, 08 · Leave a Comment

Christmas is over and we are now two days into the year of 2008.  2007 was kind of a crappy year from my point of view, but all bad things come to an end. This year is when “it all” will happen (kind of what I though last year… ehr) and compared to last year things can only get better! Something that can be interesting to you, is that I got an electric bass for christmas present. The old one I had wasn’t really healthy on the E-string so I had to borrow a friends bass when recording. It’s second hand, also, which makes me like it even more. I belive that the bass lines will get more advanced, now when I can practice between recordings and so make the songs a little more interesting. So far one new song has been created thanks to this new present and I love it!

This is how I sound like

19 December, 07 · Leave a Comment

There haven’t been much music here since the blog started. I won’t nag about the reasons for that again, but I think it’s time to let people get a sample of how my music sounds like, even if it’s not a new one. I’m proud to present an old recording of the song ’Hello’ from 2006!

Listen to ’Hello’ here and then tell me what you think!

Erase or rewind?

14 December, 07 · Leave a Comment

Erase AND rewind is a nice song by the Cardigans, but this post is not about that. I’m in the phase where I have recorded guitar, bass, drums and vocals for the base of the song (Destiny Dies). The question that haunts me is when I should settle with the quality and publish it. Should I try a little harder and erase or settle with what I have managed to do and rewind? A difficult question. The greatest problem is vocals. I have a tendency to make my songs kind of difficult to sing because they have kind of a broad spectrum of notes – both high and low. I am not a trained singer and therefore find it hard to sing my own songs at times (smart…) and there’s alot of songs that have been recorded but not published because of the lack of satisfaction with that part. However, destiny is kind at times and gives people like me the ability or luck to make one or two good takes every now and then, so for now I’m waiting for that. And then you will be able to listen to Destiny Dies!

Destiny Dies early recordings

7 December, 07 · Leave a Comment

I have recorded a draft for Destiny Dies now. I have tried it out on a couple of people and will do some more of that in the forthcoming days, then it is time to record the ‘final’ version. Some lyric changes has to be made I belive, but the character of the lyrics is still the same.

‘Destiny Dies’ lyrics

25 November, 07 · 1 Comment

Here are the lyrics for the soon-to-be-recorded-song ‘Destiny Dies’!

I’ve had enough
of her sweet touch
It felt so good
but she’s too much

Thoughts of what kind
goes trough her mind
I feel ripped up
Is this girl blind

Hold on through tonight
It’s gonna be alright
Everything matters tonight
when destiny dies

I search for light
but things ain’t bright
My mind is dimmed
but gains insight

I feel astray
She won’t say stay
I leave my keys
and slip away

Hold on through tonight
It’s gonna be alright
Everything matters tonight
when destiny dies

I’ve been loved and I’ve been torn
since the day when I was born
Will I ever get back glow
Time may show but I don’t know
No I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know

Hold on through tonight
It’s gonna be alright
Everything matters tonight
when destiny dies

Ash in Copenhagen

22 November, 07 · Leave a Comment

Last night I saw Ash for the fourth time in my life. This time in Little Vega in Copenhagen. Because of the lack of Swedish Ash fans in Sweden and the price I had to go alone. I’m not in Copenhagen very often so I felt a little worried about the walk from the central station to Vega. I went the fastest way, on Istedgade, and I think it’s the nasty street in Copenhagen… saw some prostitutes, pimps and I was also offered crack… Felt really strange.

The consert was nice. They played alot of old songs and a couple of new ones. All the ones I wanted to hear except for Sometimes. I stod in front of Mark, the bass player, and after the concert I felt all shaken bacuse of that. Ash are from Northern Ireland and in the same qualifying group as Sweden for the UEFA Euro 2008. And both played during the consert. They hoped Sweden would lose, but it didn’t go that way. Sweden qualified, Northern Ireland did not because they lost aginst Spain.

During my life I have stumbled over like three other persons that really like Ash. Yesterday I found a fourth - Morten. We talked before the concert, listened and went back to the central station together. Really nice.

And at last a cheezy comment to sumarize last night: Northern Ireland may have lost the game on the football ground, but on stage they won!

Ash!

Ash - Band pictureTomorrow is a nice day. Ash – my all time favorite band – are coming to town (or at least close to town). They are going to play in Copenhagen and I’ll  be there to absorb the sound they make. For those of you that have never heard Ash I recommend you to visit www.ash-official.com or www.myspace.com/ash. For those of you who have heard Ash before, I recommend the same sites. More about this the day after tomorow…

Time takes time

15 November, 07 · 2 Comments

Well… there haven’t been to much activity here for a while (again). Why is that? To sum up: Got in love, got an emotional brake down, got the kissing disease, passed out for three weeks and recovered. And here we are now. It has been a frustrating period but it has resulted in a couple of new songs and kind of a new style. Now… the world likes to work against me so I have hardware problems and my throat is a mess so I am having a hard time to sing. But I have ordered a new optical drive and some day I should be ok in the throat too, so some time soon this project will get on… :)
